Scone-alicious….
I’m a bit of a scone fan, so to cheer up the return to work, here’s some that I reckon are standouts in Wellington…
Clarkes cafe in the Wellington City Library – soft and sugary apple, date and buttermilk.
Finc cafe on Wakefield Street – a changing basket daily, all interesting and uniquely shaped. This one apple cinnamon…
Aporo cafe on Customhouse Quay and Waring-Taylor – delicious date.
Nikau cafe in Civic Square – divine cheese and herb.
And yes, the famed Pandoro cheese scone is fine too…
Suburbanly, go to Gipsy Kitchen in Strathmore (where all their food is divine), and check out the rhubarb and caramel scone…
And for that Sunday drive, it’d be hard to go past the devonshire tea at Stonestead in Te Marua…

What an excellent follower service, summarising top scones. It’s very hard to go past a good scone. My vote goes to the Clark’s sugary buttermilk wedge. If you ever get to Martinborough there is a lot of scone competition, with the old-fashioned Kitchener Dairy date scone probably the winner.
That Kitchener Dairy date scone sounds good, will add to my to-do list. Yum.
Cinnamon pinwheels at Little Peckish in the Duke’s Arcade are very more-ish. At completely the other end of town, Home (the new National Library cafe) has fantastic cheese scones.
Fab. Will add those to the to-try list also. Thanks for the scone-alicious additions….
Just tried the cinnamon pinwheels at Little Peckish. They really do make the grade!
